As you read Luke: The Path of Peace, you will see that over and over, I realized that the message I was reading was very personal. The Gospel of Luke tells the story of Jesus’ life on earth and how, as the Messiah, he fulfilled many promises.
I know this. I trusted Jesus as my Savior when I was four years old. I knew that he was calling me and that he cares for me. Yet I find that I need to relearn things. I need to hear the message again. And I need to realize over and over again that this message is for me.
When I read about Jesus calling his disciples to follow him and to witness for him…those words are for me, too. When I read his warnings to the Pharisees about their pride…those words are for me. When I see his words to Martha about how she worried too much…those words are for me.
I’ve been leading Bible studies for a while. I enjoy studying and researching and finding things to share with my class. Sometimes I forget to find something for me. I forget that this is nourishing to me too!
When I peeked into Acts at the end of my study of Luke (because Luke wrote both books), I found a verse that contained my “this is for you” message:
For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself. (Acts 2:39)
I’m spending some time in prayer right now, praying for each of you who reads the book or the blog. I pray that you too will hear a very personal message from a Savior who loves you very much.
